How To Stop Nosebleeds?

Sit upright and lean slightly forward

Pinch the soft part of your nose firmly

Hold continuous pressure for 10 to 15 minutes

Breathe through your mouth

Spit out any blood that drains into your mouth

Apply a cold compress to the bridge of your nose

Keep pressure on without checking too soon

Repeat the pressure for another 10 to 15 minutes if bleeding continues

Avoid blowing your nose for several hours after it stops

Avoid bending over, heavy lifting, and strenuous activity

Keep your head above your heart

Use a saline nasal spray or humidifier if your nose is dry

Avoid picking your nose

Seek medical help if bleeding is heavy, lasts more than 20 minutes, happens after an injury, or keeps recurring
