Wash your hands
Clean the blister gently with soap and water
Do not pop or drain it
Apply a cold compress for 10 to 15 minutes at a time
Elevate the finger if it is swollen
Cover it with a clean bandage or gauze
Avoid friction or pressure on the area
Use an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed and safe for you
Keep it clean and dry
Watch for signs of infection such as redness, warmth, pus, or worsening pain
Seek medical care if it is very large, very painful, keeps returning, or shows signs of infection
Seek urgent care if you have trouble moving the finger, numbness, severe swelling, or the blister was caused by a serious injury
