How to Adjust a Scope on a Rifle?

Ensure the rifle is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction

Mount the scope securely on the rifle

Set the scope to a comfortable eye relief

Level the rifle in a stable rest or vise

Level the scope reticle with the rifle

Tighten the scope rings and base screws to the manufacturer’s torque specifications

Bore sight the rifle to get the initial point of aim close to point of impact

Fire a three-shot group at the target

Measure the distance between the group and the point of aim

Adjust elevation using the turret to move impact up or down

Adjust windage using the turret to move impact left or right

Fire another group to confirm the adjustment

Repeat adjustments until the group is centered

Zero the scope at the desired distance

Record the final turret settings if needed

Recheck all mounting screws after zeroing
