Turn the camera to Manual mode, Shutter Priority mode, or Movie mode
Locate the main dial or rear dial on the camera
Rotate the dial to change the shutter speed
Check the shutter speed value on the LCD screen or viewfinder
Use the Quick Control screen if your Canon model supports it
Press the Q button, select shutter speed, and adjust with the dial or touchscreen
In Shutter Priority mode, set the desired shutter speed and let the camera choose aperture
In Manual mode, adjust shutter speed independently
In Movie mode, use the shutter speed setting in the camera menu if available
Use the touchscreen or menu controls on models without a dedicated dial
Confirm the new shutter speed before taking the photo
