Preheat the grill to medium heat
Wash and scrub the potatoes
Pat the potatoes dry
Pierce each potato several times with a fork
Rub the potatoes with oil
Sprinkle with salt if desired
Wrap each potato in aluminum foil or place directly on the grill grates
Place the potatoes on the grill over indirect heat
Close the grill lid
Cook for 45 to 60 minutes
Turn the potatoes occasionally for even cooking
Check doneness by inserting a fork or knife into the center
Remove the potatoes from the grill
Unwrap carefully if using foil
Serve hot
