How To Bathe A Newborn?

Gather all supplies before starting: basin, warm water, mild baby soap, soft washcloth, towel, clean diaper, and fresh clothes

Wash your hands

Make sure the room is warm and free from drafts

Check that the water is warm, not hot

Keep one hand on the baby at all times

Use a sponge bath until the umbilical cord stump falls off and heals

Undress the baby and wrap them in a towel, exposing only the part being washed

Clean the face first with plain water

Wipe the eyes from inner corner to outer corner using a clean damp cloth

Wash the scalp gently with water and a small amount of baby soap if needed

Clean the neck, hands, arms, chest, back, legs, and diaper area

Clean skin folds carefully

Rinse off soap with a clean damp cloth

Keep the bath short

Support the baby’s head and neck throughout

Lift the baby out carefully and wrap immediately in a dry towel

Pat the skin dry, especially in folds

Put on a fresh diaper and clothes right away

Never leave the baby unattended in water

Avoid using adult soap, bubble bath, or scented products

Bathe only a few times a week unless the baby is dirty

Follow your pediatrician’s advice if you have concerns
