How To Clean A Mousepad?

Check the manufacturer’s care instructions (label or website)

Unplug or remove any electronics (for wired pads, disconnect; for RGB/heated pads, remove power and follow specific guidance)

Shake out loose debris and dust

Spot-test a small hidden area with your cleaner

For most cloth mousepads:

Fill a basin with lukewarm water

Add a small amount of mild dish soap or gentle laundry detergent

Submerge the mousepad and gently agitate with your hands

Let soak 10–20 minutes if heavily soiled

Gently scrub stains with a soft cloth or sponge

Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear

For stubborn stains (cloth pads):

Use a diluted mixture of mild detergent and water on the stained area

Gently scrub, then rinse thoroughly

For rubber-backed cloth pads:

Avoid soaking the entire pad for extended periods

Focus cleaning on the top surface

Rinse quickly and thoroughly

For washable desk mats/large cloth pads:

Use a bathtub or large basin

Clean in sections if needed

For faux-leather or vinyl pads:

Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with mild soapy water

Wipe again with a cloth dampened with plain water

Dry immediately with a dry towel

Avoid using:

Bleach

Harsh solvents

Strong degreasers

Ammonia-based cleaners

Abrasive scrubbers

Drying:

Pat dry with a clean towel

Air-dry flat on a clean, dry surface

Ensure full drying before use

Speed up drying:

Place it in a well-ventilated area

Use a fan to improve airflow

Do not:

Put in a dryer

Wrinkle or fold while drying

Optional maintenance:

Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth regularly

Spot-clean spills immediately
