Wash silver items with warm water and mild dish soap; rinse and dry thoroughly
Line a non-reactive container (glass or plastic) with aluminum foil, shiny side up
Add hot water to cover the silver completely
Add baking soda (about 1 tablespoon per cup of water)
Submerge tarnished silver so it touches the foil
Let sit 1–5 minutes (longer for heavy tarnish)
Remove item, rinse with clean water, and dry immediately with a soft cloth
For light tarnish: polish with a silver polishing cloth, then rinse lightly and dry
For heavier tarnish: use a silver polish (cream or liquid) following the product directions
For intricate details: use a soft toothbrush with silver polish, then rinse and dry
For stubborn spots: repeat the foil-baking soda soak and polish afterward
After cleaning: store in anti-tarnish cloth or airtight bag; avoid humidity
Use microfiber or soft cotton cloths only; avoid paper towels and abrasive pads
Avoid bleach, chlorine, and harsh abrasives
Avoid using foil or baking soda on items with porous stones, pearls, lacquer, or delicate finishes unless the manufacturer confirms it’s safe
If unsure: test a small hidden area first
