Blot the stain immediately with a clean dry cloth
Rinse the stained area with cold water from the back side if possible
Apply liquid dish soap directly to the stain
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Rinse and repeat until the stain lightens
Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the stain
Let the paste sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Rinse thoroughly with cold water
Soak the item in a mixture of oxygen bleach and water
Wash the item according to the care label
Check the stain before drying
Repeat the treatment if the stain remains
For hard surfaces, wipe with dish soap and warm water
For stubborn residue, use rubbing alcohol or white vinegar on a cloth
Test any cleaner on a hidden spot first
Avoid using hot water until the stain is removed
Do not put the item in the dryer until the stain is gone
