Gather cat shampoo, a towel, a non-slip mat, and a cup or sprayer
Trim claws if needed before bathing
Brush the cat to remove loose fur and tangles
Fill a sink or tub with a few inches of lukewarm water
Place a non-slip mat in the sink or tub
Calm the cat and keep the room quiet
Gently place the cat in the water
Wet the cat slowly, avoiding the eyes, ears, and nose
Apply a small amount of cat shampoo
Massage the shampoo through the fur
Rinse thoroughly until all shampoo is removed
Keep water out of the ears and eyes
Wrap the cat in a towel immediately after rinsing
Dry the cat with the towel
