Meet eligibility requirements: be at least 18 years old, a Florida resident, and able to read/write English

Pass the Florida notary exam (required)
Submit a notary application to the Florida Department of State
Complete the required background screening (required)
Purchase the required notary surety bond in the amount required by Florida law
File your bond with the Florida Department of State as part of the application process
Obtain/submit your notary application fees as required by the Department of State
Receive your notary commission approval from the Florida Department of State
Take the oath of office and file it with the clerk of the circuit court in your county (as required)
Record your bond/oath with your county clerk (as required)
Purchase your notary seal (and any required journal supplies)
Start notarizing only after your commission is active and you have completed required county filings
