Meet Missouri eligibility requirements
Be at least 18 years old
Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
Be a resident of Missouri or have a place of employment or practice in Missouri
Be able to read and write English
Have no disqualifying felony conviction
Complete the Missouri notary application
Obtain a notary bond
Purchase a $10,000 surety bond
Have the bond signed and sealed by the surety company
Submit the application and bond to the Missouri Secretary of State
Pay the required filing fee
Receive your commission certificate
Purchase notary supplies
Obtain an official notary seal
Keep a notary journal if desired or required by your practice
Take the oath of office if required by your county
Begin performing notarial acts within the commission period
Renew your commission before it expires
