Be an Indian citizen
Be at least 30 years old
Not hold an office of profit under the Government of India or any State Government, except allowed exceptions
Be elected by the elected members of the State Legislative Assembly, or nominated by the President for specified fields
Secure nomination from a recognized political party or contest as an independent candidate, where applicable
File nomination papers during the election process
Meet all legal requirements under the Representation of the People Act and election rules
Win the required votes in the Rajya Sabha election, or be selected for nomination by the President
Take and subscribe to the oath or affirmation before entering the House
