How To Bind A Quilt?

Trim the quilt edges so they are even

Measure the quilt perimeter

Cut binding strips on the bias or straight grain

Join the strips end to end to make one long binding

Press the binding in half lengthwise, wrong sides together

Start attaching the binding to the front of the quilt, leaving a tail unsewn

Align raw edges of the binding with the quilt edge

Sew the binding to the quilt with a consistent seam allowance

Miter the corners by folding the binding at each corner

Continue sewing around the quilt, stopping before the starting point

Join the two binding ends together

Finish sewing the last section of binding to the quilt

Fold the binding to the back of the quilt

Secure the binding to the back by hand stitching or machine stitching

Check that corners are neat and all edges are fully covered

Press the finished binding flat
