Preheat the broiler on high
Place an oven rack 4 to 6 inches from the broiler
Line a broiler pan or baking sheet with foil
Pat the steak dry
Season both sides with salt and pepper
Let the steak sit at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes
Place the steak on the prepared pan
Broil the first side for 4 to 6 minutes
Flip the steak
Broil the second side for 3 to 5 minutes
Check for desired doneness with a meat thermometer
Remove the steak from the oven
Rest the steak for 5 to 10 minutes
Slice and serve
