Gather materials: 10–14 obsidian, 1 flint and steel, and a source of fire (optional)
Choose a location with enough vertical space (at least 4 blocks tall and 5 blocks wide for a Nether portal frame)
Build a Nether portal frame with obsidian:
Create a rectangle 4 blocks tall and 5 blocks wide (inside opening 2×3)
Use obsidian to form the frame edges and corners
Light the portal:
Use flint and steel on the obsidian frame to ignite the interior
Verify the portal:
Purple/blue portal particles appear
A portal appears in the opening
Enter the portal:
Walk into the portal block to travel to the destination dimension
If it doesn’t activate:
Confirm the frame is correct (obsidian rectangle matching portal dimensions)
Ensure the frame is not missing any required obsidian blocks
Try lighting multiple blocks in the frame if needed
Optional: Build a larger Nether portal:
Use obsidian rectangles within valid sizes (interior height up to 23, width up to 23)
Light the frame to activate
