Determine the span, load requirements, and truss type
Choose the materials and connection method
Create a truss design and layout drawing
Calculate member lengths, angles, and joint locations
Cut all top chords, bottom chords, and web members to size
Mark the assembly table with the truss outline
Lay out the first side of the truss on the table
Position the members according to the layout
Secure the joints with plates, gussets, nails, bolts, or welds
Check alignment, symmetry, and dimensions
Assemble the opposite side if required
Fasten all remaining joints and reinforcements
Inspect the truss for squareness and consistency
Repeat the process for each truss
Store and handle trusses carefully before installation
Install trusses according to the structural plan and local code
