Net Run Rate (NRR) = (Total runs scored by a team / Total overs faced by that team) – (Total runs conceded by the team / Total overs bowled by that team)
Use only completed innings in the calculation
If a team is all out before using all 20 overs, count the full 20 overs faced
If a team wins by chasing the target, count only the overs actually faced
Convert partial overs into decimal overs correctly
Example: 17.3 overs = 17 + 3/6 = 17.5 overs
Calculate the team’s run rate by dividing runs scored by overs faced
Calculate the opposition’s run rate by dividing runs conceded by overs bowled
Subtract the opposition’s run rate from the team’s run rate
NRR can be positive or negative
Higher NRR is better in IPL standings
