How To Calculate Percent Yield?

Percent yield = (actual yield ÷ theoretical yield) × 100

Actual yield = amount of product actually obtained

Theoretical yield = maximum amount of product predicted by stoichiometry

Ensure both yields are in the same units

Divide actual yield by theoretical yield

Multiply the result by 100 to get percent yield

Percent yield less than 100% means not all reactant was converted to product

Percent yield equal to 100% means actual yield equals theoretical yield

Percent yield greater than 100% usually indicates measurement or purity errors
