Collect the data values
Choose the categories or intervals for the values
Count the number of observations in each category (frequency)
Compute total number of observations: (N)
For each category, calculate relative frequency: (text{Relative Frequency} = frac{f}{N})
If using intervals, assign each data value to its interval, then apply the same formula per interval
Verify the results: the relative frequencies across all categories should sum to (1) (or (100%) if converted to percentages)
Optionally convert to percent: (text{Relative Frequency (%)} = left(frac{f}{N}right)times 100)
