Calculate the risk in the exposed group: number of exposed people with the outcome divided by total exposed people
Calculate the risk in the unexposed group: number of unexposed people with the outcome divided by total unexposed people
Divide the exposed risk by the unexposed risk
Use the formula: Relative Risk = [a / (a + b)] ÷ [c / (c + d)]
Where a = exposed with outcome, b = exposed without outcome, c = unexposed with outcome, d = unexposed without outcome
