Measure the roof run
Divide the rise by the run
Multiply the result by 100 to get percent slope
Use angle = arctan(rise ÷ run)
Convert the angle to degrees if needed
Use a framing square or pitch gauge for direct measurement
Check the roof pitch as rise over 12 for standard roofing notation
