List the courses you completed and the grade you received in each course
Identify the credit hours for each course
Convert each letter grade to grade points using your school’s scale (e.g., A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3)
Multiply each course’s grade points by its credit hours to get “quality points”
Add all quality points together
Add all credit hours together
Divide total quality points by total credit hours
If your school uses weighted GPA, apply the weighting rules for honors/AP/IB (or other categories) before calculating grade points
If your school uses a different grading scale (4.0, 5.0, 10-point, etc.), use that scale consistently
Use the same method for each term and for your overall GPA (if required)
