How To Calculate Zakat In Islam?

Confirm that your wealth has reached the nisab threshold

Check that one lunar year has passed while you owned nisab-level wealth

Calculate zakat on zakatable assets such as cash, gold, silver, business inventory, trade goods, and receivables likely to be paid

Add all zakatable assets together

Subtract immediate liabilities and debts due now

Multiply the remaining zakatable amount by 2.5%

Pay zakat on the resulting amount

For agricultural produce, calculate according to the applicable rate based on irrigation method

For livestock, calculate according to the specific livestock zakat rules

For retirement accounts, investments, and business assets, include only the zakatable portion

Give zakat to eligible recipients mentioned in Islamic teachings
