Go to a sandy beach where sand fleas are active, usually near the waterline or around wrack
Look for small hopping insects in damp sand, especially at dawn or dusk
Wait quietly and watch for movement when the sand is disturbed
Use a small net, jar, or scoop to catch them quickly
Bait them with fish scraps, seaweed, or other organic debris if needed
Dig lightly into damp sand where they hide
Trap them by placing a container over the spot and sliding a card or flat object underneath
Wear gloves if you are handling them by hand
Keep the container closed so they do not escape
Transfer them carefully to a secure holding container if you need to keep them alive
