Make a slip knot on the hook
Hold the yarn with your non-dominant hand
Yarn over by bringing the yarn from back to front over the hook
Pull the yarn through the loop on the hook
One chain stitch is made
Repeat yarn over and pull through the loop on the hook
Keep the tension even as you work
