Gather a screwdriver, replacement handle, and any included screws or latch parts
Open the door and keep it steady
Remove the screws from the inside handle plate
Pull both sides of the old handle apart
Remove the latch from the door edge if replacing it
Insert the new latch into the door edge
Attach the new exterior handle
Align and attach the interior handle
Tighten all screws securely
Test the handle and latch to make sure the door opens and closes properly
