Turn off the ceiling fan and light switch
Turn off power at the circuit breaker
Let the bulb cool completely
Use a stable ladder or step stool
Remove the light cover or glass shade if present
Hold the bulb gently
Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it
Check the bulb type and wattage before replacing
Insert the new bulb into the socket
Turn the bulb clockwise until snug
Reattach the light cover or glass shade
Restore power at the circuit breaker
Turn on the light to test it
