Gather a screwdriver, new doorknob, and any included screws or parts
Open the door and keep it steady
Remove the screws from the interior doorknob plate
Pull both sides of the old doorknob apart
Remove the latch plate screws on the door edge
Pull out the old latch mechanism
Insert the new latch mechanism into the door edge
Secure the latch plate with screws
Align the new exterior doorknob with the latch
Insert the interior doorknob on the opposite side
Fasten the connecting screws tightly
Test the knob to make sure it turns and latches properly
Tighten any loose screws if needed
