Gather a new door knob, screwdriver, and any included screws or latch parts
Open the door and keep it steady
Remove the screws from the interior knob plate
Pull both sides of the knob apart
Remove the latch from the door edge by unscrewing it
Insert the new latch into the door edge
Secure the latch with screws
Align the new exterior knob with the latch
Attach the interior knob to the other side
Insert and tighten the mounting screws
Test the knob to make sure it turns and latches properly
Tighten any loose screws if needed
