How To Change A Flat Tire?

Pull over to a safe, level place away from traffic

Turn on hazard lights

Set the parking brake

Put the car in park or in gear

Get the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench

Place wheel wedges or blocks behind the opposite tires

Remove the hubcap or wheel cover if needed

Slightly loosen the lug nuts while the tire is still on the ground

Position the jack under the vehicle’s recommended jacking point

Raise the vehicle until the flat tire is off the ground

Fully remove the lug nuts

Remove the flat tire

Mount the spare tire onto the wheel bolts

Hand-tighten the lug nuts

Lower the vehicle until the spare tire touches the ground

Tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern

Lower the vehicle completely

Remove the jack

Tighten the lug nuts again as much as possible

Reinstall the hubcap or wheel cover if applicable

Check the spare tire pressure as soon as possible

Drive carefully and avoid high speeds if using a temporary spare

Have the flat tire repaired or replaced promptly
