Turn off the vehicle and switch off the lights
Open the trunk, tailgate, or access panel to reach the number plate light housing
Locate the license plate light cover or bulb holder
Remove the cover using a small flat tool or by hand if it clips off
Twist or unclip the bulb holder if needed
Remove the old bulb
Insert the new bulb of the correct type
Refit the bulb holder or reconnect the housing
Reinstall the light cover
Test the number plate lights to confirm they work
Repeat on the other side if there are two lights
