Set the multimeter to DC voltage
Select a range above the battery’s expected voltage if manual ranging is required
Insert the black probe into the COM port
Insert the red probe into the V port
Touch the black probe to the battery’s negative terminal
Touch the red probe to the battery’s positive terminal
Read the voltage displayed on the multimeter
Compare the reading to the battery’s rated voltage
Remove the probes from the battery
Turn off the multimeter
