Turn off power to the circuit
Set the multimeter to continuity mode
Insert the probes into the correct multimeter jacks
Touch the probe tips together to confirm the meter works
Place one probe on each end of the component or wire
Read the display or listen for the beep
A beep or near-zero resistance means continuity
No beep or high resistance means no continuity
Remove the probes after testing
Restore power only when finished testing
