Search for live bugs, shed skins, eggs, and dark fecal spots
Check sheets, pillowcases, and mattress covers for blood stains or black specks
Use a flashlight and a credit card or thin tool to probe tight crevices
Inspect luggage, clothing, and bags if infestation may have been brought in
Place interceptor traps under bed and furniture legs to monitor activity
Repeat inspections at night or early morning when bedbugs are more active
Contact a pest control professional if signs are found
