See a doctor if you have symptoms such as frequent infections, unusual bruising or bleeding, fatigue, fever, night sweats, weight loss, or swollen lymph nodes

Review the CBC for low red blood cells, low platelets, abnormal white blood cells, or very high or very low white blood cell counts
Have a peripheral blood smear examined under a microscope

Ask about additional blood tests such as liver tests, kidney tests, and blood chemistry tests
Undergo bone marrow aspiration and biopsy if leukemia is suspected
Get flow cytometry to identify leukemia cell types
Have cytogenetic or molecular testing for chromosome and gene changes
Get imaging tests if needed to assess organ enlargement or complications
Follow up with a hematologist or oncologist for confirmation and treatment planning
