Open Device Manager
Expand Human Interface Devices
Expand Xbox Peripherals if available
Look for the controller name or USB input device entries
Open Settings
Go to Bluetooth & devices
Check whether the controller appears under connected devices
Open Control Panel
Go to Devices and Printers
Look for the controller in the device list
Press Win + R
Type joy.cpl and press Enter
Check whether the controller appears in the Game Controllers window
Open Steam
Go to Settings
Open Controller settings
Check whether the controller is detected
Unplug and reconnect the controller
Watch for a Windows connection sound or device notification
Test the controller in a game or controller test app
Check whether the controller’s LEDs turn on when connected
Try a different USB port if it does not appear
Try a different cable if the controller is not detected
