Visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal
Log in using your PAN, password, and captcha
Go to the “e-File” or “View Returns/Forms” section
Select the relevant assessment year
Check the return status shown on the screen
Use the acknowledgment number if you need to track a specific return
Check your registered email for status updates from the Income Tax Department
Check your registered mobile number for SMS updates
Verify whether the return is marked as processed, pending, or defective
If needed, download the intimation under Section 143(1) from the portal
