Sit down and rest for a few minutes
Place your index and middle fingers on your wrist or neck
Feel for your pulse
Count the beats for 30 seconds
Multiply the count by 2 to get beats per minute
For a more accurate reading, count for 60 seconds
You can also use a heart rate monitor or fitness tracker
Check your BPM when you are calm and not after exercise
Repeat the measurement if the pulse feels irregular
