Disassemble the trumpet
Remove the valves and set them aside in order
Remove the valve caps and slides
Fill a bathtub or large sink with lukewarm water
Add a small amount of mild dish soap
Soak the trumpet body, slides, and valve caps
Clean the inside of the tubing with a trumpet cleaning snake
Clean the leadpipe and tuning slides carefully
Wash the mouthpiece with a mouthpiece brush
Rinse all parts thoroughly with clean lukewarm water
Dry the trumpet body, slides, and caps with a soft lint-free cloth
Dry the valves separately without rubbing the valve felts or corks
Apply a small amount of valve oil to each valve
Apply slide grease to the tuning slides
Reassemble the trumpet
Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth after each use
Store the trumpet in its case when not in use
