Turn off the HVAC system
Remove vent covers and grilles
Vacuum loose dust from registers and openings
Cover supply and return openings as needed
Use a high-powered vacuum with a HEPA filter
Brush duct walls with a long flexible brush
Clean the blower, coils, and drain pan
Replace or clean the air filter
Wipe down vent covers and grilles
Reinstall all covers securely
Turn the HVAC system back on
Schedule professional duct cleaning if needed
