Let the pan cool completely
Rinse with hot water
Scrub with a stiff brush or non-scratch sponge
Use coarse salt for stuck-on food if needed
Avoid soap unless necessary
Dry immediately with a towel
Heat the pan briefly to remove remaining moisture
Apply a thin layer of cooking oil
Store in a dry place
Remove rust with steel wool if present
Re-season the pan if the surface looks dull or damaged
