Clean the area twice daily with sterile saline solution

Remove any crusties by softening them with saline first, then wipe gently
Rinse the area with clean water after cleaning if needed
Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel or gauze
Avoid using alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or harsh soaps
Avoid twisting, rotating, or moving the jewelry
Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the piercing
Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, lakes, or oceans until healed
Keep hair, lotions, and makeup away from the piercing
Seek medical help if you notice severe redness, swelling, pus, fever, or worsening pain
