How To Clean Dishwasher Filter?

Turn off and unplug the dishwasher.

Remove the bottom rack.

Locate the filter assembly (usually in the bottom center).

Twist and lift the filter to remove it (follow the direction of the arrows on the filter if present).

Separate components if your filter has multiple parts (fine screen, coarse strainer, and/or mesh).

Rinse the filter under hot running water.

Use a soft brush (toothbrush or dish brush) to scrub debris from the mesh and crevices.

Remove any trapped food particles from the filter housing area with a damp cloth or paper towels.

For greasy buildup, soak the filter components in hot water with dish soap for 15–30 minutes, then scrub and rinse.

Check the drain area for obstructions and remove any visible debris.

Reassemble the filter components correctly and ensure they sit flush.

Lock the filter in place by twisting until it clicks or aligns with the arrow marks.

Wipe the inside bottom of the dishwasher around the filter area.

Run a short hot-water cycle with the dishwasher empty (optional but recommended) to confirm proper drainage.

Plug the dishwasher back in and turn it on.
