Remove any wilted, yellow, or damaged leaves
Separate the greens into manageable bunches
Fill a large bowl or sink with cold water
Submerge the greens and swish them gently
Let dirt and grit sink to the bottom
Lift the greens out of the water without disturbing the sediment
Repeat with fresh water until no grit remains
Rinse the greens under cold running water if needed
Shake off excess water
Dry with a salad spinner, clean towel, or paper towels
Store only after the greens are fully dry
