How To Clean Lawn Mower Carburetor?

Disconnect the spark plug wire

Turn off the fuel valve if equipped

Drain or clamp the fuel line

Remove the air filter cover and air filter

Take a photo of the carburetor linkages and hose positions

Remove the carburetor from the engine

Disconnect the throttle linkage, governor spring, and fuel line

Remove the carburetor bowl

Remove the float, float pin, and needle valve

Remove the main jet, emulsion tube, and other removable jets

Spray carburetor cleaner through all passages and openings

Use compressed air to blow out passages

Clean the bowl, float, and jets with carburetor cleaner

Use a soft brush or nylon bristle to remove deposits

Do not use wire that can enlarge jets or passages

Replace damaged gaskets, O-rings, and seals

Reassemble the carburetor

Reinstall the carburetor on the engine

Reconnect the fuel line and linkages

Reinstall the air filter and cover

Reconnect the spark plug wire

Add fresh fuel

Start the mower and check for leaks and proper operation
