Unplug the kettle and let it cool completely
Empty any remaining water
Fill the kettle with equal parts water and white vinegar
Boil or heat the mixture if the kettle allows it
Turn it off and let the solution sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Pour out the solution
Scrub the inside gently with a soft sponge or brush
Rinse thoroughly with clean water
Fill with fresh water and boil once
Discard the boiled water
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth
Dry the kettle completely before using or storing
