Unplug the dryer or turn off the gas supply
Pull the dryer away from the wall
Disconnect the dryer vent duct from the dryer
Remove lint from the duct opening by hand or with a vacuum
Use a dryer vent brush to scrub inside the duct
Clean the vent hose from both ends
Vacuum out loosened lint from the duct and surrounding area
Check the exterior vent cap and remove any lint buildup
Clear the vent flap and make sure it opens freely
Reconnect the duct securely to the dryer
Push the dryer back into place without crushing the duct
Run the dryer on air only for a few minutes to check airflow
