Empty the trash can completely
Remove any liner or bag
Rinse out loose debris with water
Scrub the inside and outside with hot water and dish soap
Use a brush or sponge to clean corners and seams
Rinse thoroughly with clean water
Disinfect with a bleach solution or disinfectant spray
Let it sit for the recommended contact time
Rinse again if needed
Dry completely with a towel or air dry in sunlight
Replace with a fresh trash bag
Clean the lid and handles the same way
Repeat regularly to prevent odors and buildup
