Rinse with saline (neti pot or squeeze bottle)
Use a saline spray every few hours
Take a hot shower or inhale steam from a bowl of hot water for 5–10 minutes
Apply a warm compress to the face and sinuses for 10–15 minutes
Stay well hydrated (warm fluids help)
Use a humidifier or run a steamy bathroom
Sleep with your head elevated
Blow your nose gently after saline rinsing
Try a short-term nasal decongestant spray (oxymetazoline) for up to 3 days
Consider an oral decongestant if safe for you (avoid if you have hypertension, heart disease, or certain thyroid issues)
Use an over-the-counter pain reliever for sinus pressure (acetaminophen or ibuprofen, if safe)
If allergies are likely, use an OTC antihistamine and/or an OTC steroid nasal spray (daily)
Avoid smoke, strong odors, and cold dry air
Use gentle nasal breathing and avoid forceful nose-blowing
